This year is beginning in a spectacular fashion! We have just started week 4 of our classes, and we already have so much going on.

We are collaborating on a major event for Brisbane City Council’s BrisAsia Festival called ‘To Bollywood with Love’. Together with producer, Joon-Yee Kwok, we are transforming Albert St in the city to a Bollywood film set for one night only! The idea is that it is almost like a theme-park experience, where the point isn’t to make a movie, but to experience what it would be like to be in one! We are creating a wedding scene where anybody can come along and participate as a ‘invited guest’. The audience get taught a small dance, and at the end of the scene, they get up on their feet and celebrate! Of course there is more than that, but that is what is required to participate. You can wear your best Indian threads, or just come along wearing something wedding appropriate. And prepare yourself for some awesome performances presented by Dance Masala and Sher-E-Punjab. Registration is on the hour, every hour; so get to it! 5pm, 6pm, 7pm and the final show at 8pm!

We are excited to announce that we are a confirmed act for QPAC’s Out of the Box Children’s Festival. This year the festival is going to be bigger than ever! Dance Masala will be presenting a total of 16 workshops over 8 days, and performing for the festival. Put it down in your diaries for the 25th of June to the 3rd of July! This will be such a fantastic, fun and free event, perfect for the kids during the school holidays! We are launching the program this Wednesday! Check out our page in the program guide below!

We also have a big school performance on the Queen St Mall on the 30th of March. Come check us out! We will be performing around 1pm on the Queen St Mall stage. It is sure to be an amazing, fun day. Why, you might ask? There is no real cause or reason, just an opportunity for the whole school to show off their skills together, and check out all the other classes. From our tiniest students (aged 3 years old) to our adult performance team, everyone will be performing. It’s a low pressure event, and promises to be a really fun day! Not to mention it is the day before my birthday. So not to make it all about me, but the most perfect gift would be to come and perform; and if you’re not a student, just come to cheer us on!

I am so happy to have some brilliant new energy in my Performance Team, in the form of our new members! Very excited to welcome Raksha, Heena and Sneha to the team, bringing with them some fantastic new ideas. Raksha is a skilled classical dancer, who has been performing Bollywood for years. Sneha has also been in a Bollywood performance team from Canada. And Heena comes from a background of latin dance, and is excited to add Bollywood dance to her dance resume! Totally thrilled to have you girls on board, welcome!

Like I said, 2014 is off to a fantastic start! I almost want it to slow down! Just kidding, I’m loving this crazy wave of success. Classes are at capacity, everyone is doing such a superb job on the routines, and we have so many more major events in the works for the rest of the year. We have been part of four weddings so far, and they were beautiful, memorable occasions, we have several more lined up in the next few months. We are so grateful to everyone who supports us, and those of you who are continuing to support us as we continue to grow and evolve. If you have any feedback for us, anything you think we could be doing better, things you’d love to see us involved in, please write to us! Comment and let us know!

Hope you’re also having a fantastic start to this year! Keep loving, dancing, enjoying. Remember to breathe, and remember to stretch; and be fearless! WOW, this entry is pretty much a novel.
