Dance has always been part of my family. With my mother being a professional Bharatanatyam dancer and teacher, I grew up surrounded by dance and dancers. In 2018, I completed my Master of Arts (Bharatanatyam) from Pracheen Kala Kendra, a university in Chandigarh, India. I have had the wonderful opportunity to tour India and Malaysia, performing Bharatanatyam.
In 2016, when I moved to Australia for university, I could not find any opportunities to dance and Boy, did I miss dancing. I have grown up loving Bollywood. I would, I still do memorise all the choreography from hit Bollywood songs. Bollywood is the opposite of Bharatanatyam and it was an extremely fun way of expressing myself and letting go.
As one of the newer members of Dance Masala, I am extremely excited and thankful to be a part of the Performance Company. Dance Masala has already taught me so many different styles of dance and I can’t wait to learn more.
